Installing the Zen Browser on Any Linux Distro
This page contains instructions on how to install the Zen browser on any Linux distribution.
Here is how you can install the Zen browser on any Linux distribution.
Installation
On the download page, simply click the download button "Download for Linux".
This will download a compressed file that we'll need to extract. Most distributions have the means to extract files in the file manager, but if you'd like to do it in the Terminal, simply use the below command to extract the contents.
Be sure to adjust file naming as needed.
At this point, we can launch the browser from the folder that was extracted. Just look for a file in the folder that was extracted called zen. You can run it with ./zen, and it should open the Zen browser.
Desktop Entry
If you'd like an executable, so that the Zen browser is like any other app on your desktop, here's the process for that.
Create a desktop entry in the applications directory with the command below.
The contents of this file are below.
You do need to be sure to change some things. Be sure to check the Exec and Icon paths. They should match where your extracted folder is. Otherwise, pretty much everything else can stay the same.
We then need to make this file executable.
Then refresh the desktop app database.
After this, you should be able to see the Zen browser like any other app in your application menu.
