Release 1.5 Changelog
This page contains public information on Release 1.5
Release 1.4 hopefully fixed most of the major issues/bugs in the platform. This release is going to focus on three main things.
- Importing documents
- A better interface for new users.
- My Notebook
New users currently don't have much guidance as to what this platform can do, and where to go for what they want to get done.
Importing Documents
The ability to import documents is a much needed feature for individuals trying to move to BBD. It's something that'll also greatly encourage small organizations to switch after demos/presentations.
We'll start with allowing users to upload HTML documents. On most existing documentation platforms out there, users can export their documents as HTML files. We're starting with this format just because it should make the importing process a little easier; since we also use HTML elements in our rich text editor behind the scenes. In future releases, we'll look at adding other file formats like PDF.
My Notebook
This is a new feature that has been mentioned in Release 1.4. My Notebook is meant to be a user's virtual notebook; something we're hoping users enjoy; whether they're using Bluebird Documentation for workspace reasons or individual documentation.
This feature was actually going to be postponed to a future release, but we're very excited to announce that it will be included in this release! There are definitely a lot of enhancements to this feature that will come in future releases, but this release does include our super awesome palm detection, so you can hopefully write in your BBD notebook; just like you'd write in any notebook!
Guidance for New Users
Users that are tech savvy, and have used documentation platforms like Confluence before may not need much guidance to get started in BBD, but we need to help out users that haven't used documentation platforms before.
We hope to achieve this through a series of user guided walkthroughs and tooltips; all of which should not get in the way for experienced users, but is there for anyone new, or if a user would like a refresher.
General Enhancements
- Visual improvements to the sidebars.
- Documentation Sidebar
- Walkthrough Sidebar
- Workspace Sidebar
- Add the ability for users to delete their workspace.
- Visual indication for required fields in creating and editing document forms.
- Compressing requests to and from our backend. This should speed up communication between users and our servers.
When a user is viewing a space in their documentation, clicking the create button to create a new document will automatically select the viewed space as the parent.- We'll be putting the BBD Discord channel on the home page for quicker access to fast help if users encounter any issues.
- Ability for users to attach ZIP files to documents.
- When users click the login or register/sign up button, immediately take them to to a loading screen, so it doesn't look like nothing is happening.
Bugfixes
- Changing the workspace custom domain in the workspace settings doesn't work. After fixing this, need to make sure that the custom domain is being updated everywhere necessary in the database for that workspace.
- If a user is not logged in, and is viewing a document, do not display the sidebar; just show option to log in.
