BBD Release 2.8
This page contains public notes on Release 2.8 for the Bluebird Documentation web application.
Release 2.8 lets you block people from interacting with your documents, and brings a completely reworked theming system across the app.
You can now block specific email addresses from your Account settings. Once blocked, that address can no longer view your documents, comment on them, be shared with, or invite you to (or be invited to) events and task boards. Themes have also been rebuilt from the ground up: Dark and Purple now apply consistently everywhere in the app, switch instantly with no reload, and follow your account across devices.

What shipped in Release 2.8
Now that 2.8 is out, here is everything that went into the release.
Email Blocking
You can now block people from interacting with your documents anywhere in Bluebird Documentation.
- Block a user right from a comment: a "Block this user" option now appears next to Delete on comments left on your own documents, with a confirmation that explains what blocking does.
- Manage your blocked list: a new Blocked Emails section in Account settings lets you view, add, annotate, and remove blocked addresses.
- Blocked from viewing your documents: a blocked address can no longer open your personal documents, tutorials, or attachments, even with a link that was shared before the block.
- Blocked from commenting and mentions: a blocked address can't comment on your documents or be @mentioned, and any of their existing comments are hidden (and automatically restored if you unblock them). This also works in the other direction, so you won't be shown threads owned by someone you've blocked.
- Blocked from being shared with: sharing a document now skips any address you've blocked, and lets you know which addresses were skipped and why.
- Extends to Team Workspaces: a blocked address can't be added as a workspace member, added through an external share, or comment on a workspace document.
- Extends to the Planner and task boards: a blocked address can no longer invite you to an event or be invited by you, and RSVPs are blocked in both directions.
- Visible from the Command Center: your blocked email list can also be viewed from the cross-app Settings hub in the Bluebird Command Center.
Redesigned Themes
Themes have been rebuilt so they work consistently everywhere in the app.
- Three themes, done properly: Default, Dark, and Purple are now fully implemented across the entire app, including areas that never had theme support before, like My Notebook, walkthroughs, and support. The previous half-implemented Gray, Dark Gray, and Dark Purple options have been removed.
- Instant switching: changing your theme now applies immediately, with no page reload.
- No more flash on load: pages no longer briefly flash the Default look before your chosen theme applies.
- Follows you across devices: your personal theme is now saved to your account, so it's the same wherever you sign in.
- Team Workspace themes take priority while you're in them: entering a workspace with its own theme applies that theme, and leaving the workspace restores your personal theme automatically.
